_No other freshwater fish is found as far north. The Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) is spread throughout the Kitikmeot and Qikiqtaaluk Regions and the northern Kivalliq Region. Captured all across Nunavut, especially in coastal rivers, the char is the hardest-hitting and most popular fish to catch and eat; so popular with the Inuit people that it is usually just called ‘fish’ — ‘iqaluk’ in Inuktitut
